When choosing a hammer, it is essential to consider multiple features, such as material of the hammer head, the weight of the hammer head, and the length of the hammer handle. What is also important to consider is the material of the hammer handle.
Designed to be tough, Groz engineered various hammers with an Indestructible handle. Hammers with this type of handle are ideal for heavy-duty usage such as demolition, driving stakes, and metal forming.
The Indestructible handle has steel spring bars that are locked into the hammer’s head with a steel locking plate, ensuring the head does not loosen or break off the hammer handle. Surrounded by strong Vulcanized rubber, these steel bars add strength to the overall strike of the hammer while resisting overstrike. The Vulcanized rubber absorbs the vibration coming from the handle as the user strikes the object, making it the best for extreme shock absorption. This reduces the fatigue in the user’s hand that would often come after continuous striking use. Having less fatigue enables the user to work longer periods of time with this hammer while keeping a comfortable grip.
How does the Indestructible handle compare with fiberglass or hickory wood?
Hammers with Hickory Wood are more commonly used for traditional carpentry, woodworking, and general use hammers. They are lighter than the indestructible handles and heavier than fiberglass handles, making hickory wood a good balance of strength and maneuverability while providing a excellent natural shock absorption. However, if the wood is not properly maintained, the handle can splinter or crack overtime. Indestructible handles will not splinter or crack and is the best for extreme shock absorption.
Hammers with Fiberglass handles are suitable for a variety of uses, including general carpentry, and are resistant to weather and chemicals. These handles are generally lighter than the indestructible and hickory wood handles while providing good shock absorption, making them easier to handle for extended periods of time. However, the Fiberglass handle does not give the same capacity for heavy duty uses as the Indestructible handle hammers.
